For some people equalization is not easy. In Hainan island there is a shop run by a PADI course director that actually does not teach equalization to it's Discover Scuba Diving customers so that they are not in the water long. They are told that some people cannot equalize so they cannot become divers. The end result is the customer goes home and never tries SCUBA diving again. Equalization can be done by most people. But can be hard, even at times for experienced divers. Here is an interesting article about different ways to make equalization easier even some pre dive tips.

Nice find. Good read.

Always surprised by this. I have to wonder what people are doing wrong.

I guess chewing gum is out of the question.

This article explains the different equalization techniques by name from scubadiving.com. If you wondered what is the difference between Valslva and Frenzel or Toynbee and Lowry well this article is for you.

Every diver knows that saltwater causes you to discharge huge amounts of mucus after surfacing from a dive. So this makes perfect sense.

If you are experiencing congestion and don't wish to use medications, here is a nice solution.

I do this when I have a cold. It works wonders. The medication is actually less effective than using a Neti Pot. The best part is that you aren't using meds. This can clear you up for the entire day most of the time.

The girl in this video goes overboard with the distilled water and warming it. She must live in a cold weather climate. because all you need is room temperature here in Taiwan. And tap water is fine. Also, natural sea salt is all you need and you can get that at many supermarkets. Don't use iodized table salt. Seriously, "Nedi Salt"?
