Taipei, Sept. 11 (CNA) Services to and from Green Island and Orchid Island have been suspended for Sept. 13-14, according to a notice posted on the EZ boat website late Sunday night.
As Tropical Storm Talim makes its way towards Taiwan, a group of ferry service providers announced on travel website EZ boat that all services to Green Island and Orchid Island, off the coast of Taitung County, will be suspend on Wednesday and Thursday.
According to the Central Weather Bureau, a sea warning for Talim is expected to be issued Tuesday morning with a land warning following later that day or Wednesday morning.
On Wednesday and Thursday, the tropical storm is forecast to have a major impact on Taiwan's weather, which is why ferry services have been suspended.
Ferry captains will decide whether to operate on Friday based on prevailing weather conditions.
Currently, Talim is located about 1,710 kilometers east-southeast of Eluanbi, Taiwan's southernmost tip, and is moving in a west-northwestly direction toward Taiwan at about 29 kilometer per hour, the bureau said.
