The dive site is just off shore of Turtle Island's head. It is here where the andesite stratovolcano rises from the seafloor. It is the only active volcano in Taiwan, displaying active fumaroles and solfataras. It has an area of 2.841 square kilometres (1.097 sq mi). The vents on the ocean floor emit gasses and heat which deposit sulphur on the subterrain. The sulphuric smell is dominant at the surface.
